Helmut Hanika

* 25.05.1932                      † 02.10.2020

Your steps are silent, but the traces of your life remain.

With Helmut Hanika we not only lose our esteemed company founder, but also our beloved father, father-in-law and grandpa.

After the expulsion from the Egerland, Helmut built the internationally known guitar manufacturer "Hanika Guitars" from nothing in the difficult post-war years. At that time he actually wanted to study mechanical engineering, but the war and the subsequent resettlement destroyed these plans. With the help of his grandfather, Helmut learned to make violins, but soon switched to make various guitar models in the early 1950s, according to the time. In the mid-1960s, when he passed the master's examination, he concentrated on the classical concert guitar. Even after his son Armin took over the workshop in 1993, Helmut continued to give advice and assistance to the company for many years and he always had an open ear for all workshop matters until the end.

Thanks for being there. We miss you infinitely.

"Further more, the more beautiful and full the remembrances, the more difficult the separation. But gratitude transforms the torment of memory into silent joy. One bears what was lovely in the past not as a thorn but as a precious gift deep within, a hidden treasure of which one can always be certain.” - Dietrich Bonhoeffer
